Krista is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving West Des Moines, Iowa, and surrounding areas. Krista creates safety, therapeutic relationships and trust to those seeking healing through effective psychotherapy. She uses the AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) model to help clients resolve trauma and limiting beliefs in order to decrease suffering. Krista is a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist specializing in the treatment of co-occurring (substance use and mental health) disorders. Krista also uses EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) to guide couples to health and healing of relational and attachment wounds. Krista appreciates and incorporates complementary supports such as guided imagery, somatic work, mindfulness and use of essential oils/sound to ground and stabilize clients. She has extensive experience working with addiction and substance use disorders and is a sought after provider of therapy with these populations. She provides individual therapy to adolescents and adults as well as couples therapy. She has a profound respect for and interest in EMDR and has grown her practice to specialize in the resolution of life traumas both big and small.
Krista earned a Master of Social Work (2009) from the University of Iowa. Her post- graduate experience includes providing therapy and assessment to diverse populations in both mental health and substance use disorder settings. She chose to focus much of her training on EMDR therapy and the AIP model in order to help victims of traumatic experiences who struggle with behavioral compulsions. Since graduation, she has worked as licensed therapist in the community co-occurring setting. She practices in the West Des Moines, Iowa office and accepts clients by appointment only. She leads a team of responsive, adaptive and compassionate individuals who are ready and willing to assist you on your journey to wellness.
Off the clock, you will find Krista spending time with her family on one of the many amazing lakes or rivers of the Midwest. She enjoys her roles as a parent and a spouse the most. She also has a passion for photography, dogs, event design and outdoor cooking.
