Samantha is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Samantha is also an EMDR Certified Therapist. She is passionate about being present with youth, adults, and families on their healing and wellness journeys. She works with individuals who are managing anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, grief, and stress. Samantha offers a safe space to explore the impact of past trauma and adversity, how it affects current functioning, and how to look to the future and foster ongoing resilience. She recognizes that everyone’s path to healing is unique and strives to develop a plan for treatment together. Samantha utilizes mind body connection in her collaborative approach, applying how breath work, mindfulness, and somatic focus are essential when addressing the impact of chronic stress and trauma. She is trained in EMDR therapy and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
Samantha earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Drake University in 2011. Prior to joining Kä(l)m Therapy Group, Samantha worked in a residential treatment facility for adolescents where she was providing counseling, supervision, and training. In addition to her trauma focus, Samantha enjoys working with youth who are struggling with self-esteem issues, self-destructive behaviors, and problematic sexual behaviors.
Outside of work Samantha can be found trying to keep up with her busy family. A Kentucky native, she loves creating and crafting, from pottery to macramé, as well as cooking, streaming shows, and cycling. She especially loves camping with her husband and daughters and taking a good hammock nap.
